Rust Stains Removed Quickly and Completely Using These Proven Steps

Remove rust stains Whether you changed a tire or stowed your jacket under a seat at the stadium, rust can get on your clothes. We don't normally think about this happening, until it's too late.

From Fabric, Laundry or Chothes:
If the fabric is colored, you need to test it for colorfastness.
Step 1:
Shake off as much of the rust from the fabric as you can.

Step 2:
Apply a mild bleaching agent such as lemon juice to the effected area.

Step 3:
Sprinkle the area with salt to absorb the rust.

Step 4:
Place the item in sunlight for a time to further bleach the stained area.

Step 5:
Repeat the above steps until the stain is removed. If the stain is persistent, you may need to use a rust remover. Then launder according to the directions for the garment.

Rust On Carpet/Upholstery:
Step 1:
Vacuum up any dry rust particles if possible or blot up any rusty liquid if possible.

Step 2:
Sprinkle area with salt and gently rub vinegar over salty stain. Let it stand for 30 minutes.

Step 3:
Blot with a clean wet sponge or white rag until rust is gone.
