Grease Stain Removal can be an issue to deal with when you've cooked bacon, changed the oil in your car or when
you have recently ridden your bicycle. The steps below will help you with grease stains and save your favorite pants or that new shirt.
Grease stains break down using a solvent like dishwashing detergent and it melts under heat.
Unlike other stains, heat weakens grease and helps to release it from the garment.
Removing GREASE from Clothing or Washable Fabric:
Step 1:
Remove as much of the grease as possible by scraping it up if it's dry; or blot up as much as you can, if the grease is still wet.
Step 2:
Sprinkle the stain with baking soda, cornstarch or talcum powder to absorb excess grease and let it stand for about 30 minutes.
Brush the powder from the clothes. Repeat to remove as much of the stain as possible.
Step 3:
Rub clear dishwashing liquid into the spot between your fingers. Let it stand for a few minutes.
Step 4:
Rinse through from the back of the stained garment with HOT water for 30 minutes.
Step 5:
Return to step 1.
Step 6:
Apply a laundry presoak and let stand. Then launder in the hottest water that is safe for the fabric.
The heat will cut through the grease and weaken it.
